The Legislature has made it very difficult for public agencies to close their meetings.
It's a constitutional right. In my view, people are entitled to know within an hour whether their requests will be complied with. Anytime a citizen comes to a government agency and cares enough about their community to want to learn about the issues that are important to them, they should get a response.
The courts have ruled that the conditions in the exemption must be complied with in order to close a meeting.
It doesn't surprise me that agencies that have the most confidential information ... are having to face the greatest challenge.
I'm not sure that the transfer of these positions is necessary.
I've been waiting to have this conversation for years.
The results are disappointing. We'll have to redouble our efforts.
I think this proposal is the best of all worlds.
