"Michael John "Mike" Vanderjagt" is a former American football/American and Canadian football placekicker and Punter (American football)/punter who has played in the Arena Football League, the Canadian Football League (CFL) and National Football League (NFL). On May 31, 2008, Vanderjagt returned to the Toronto Argonauts, where he played from 1996 to 1997, to be their starting kicker.

He retired as the most accurate Field goal (football)/field goal kicker in CFL and NFL history of all kickers with at least 100 field goal attempts (230 of 266, 86.5% as of January 2010, since surpassed by Dan Bailey (American football)/Dan Bailey and Stephen Gostkowski). He is also known, however, for some high profile missed field goal attempts in postseason games.

I don't accept failure. I have no idea what happened. The snap was good. The hold was good.

Ripe for the picking.

I have no idea why it went where it went. As far as I was concerned, I hit it right.

I remember the hostility of the situation. Nobody likes the horseshoe in that town just because of the way it ended back in 1984. Those are loyal Baltimore fans. They probably hated the fact that the Colts left and then we were back.

It's probably a very big deal to them, just like it was in '98, but it's not like the huge New England-Indianapolis rivalry. If we played a few more times, people would start hating the Colts more over there than they already do.

I've only had eight field goal attempts this year, so you kind of lose your rhythm. You've just got to prepare yourself for it because it's not as easy as everyone thinks. It's not as much physical as it is mental.

It is tough to keep going, it really is. We are looking forward to going down there Tuesday and being with him and showing 100 percent support to him.

I'm somewhat in shock that I am standing here after a missed field goal. I'm not sure what happened.

I'm somewhat in shock standing here after a missed field goal. I never thought in a million years I would've missed it.
