It's a gorgeous country with all sorts of history, ... A lot of Europeans vacation in Portugal, but it hasn't really caught on with North Americans.

I would not leave anything expensive out in the hotel room at all.

It's not a great idea to rent a car, ... They drive a lot differently. Taxies are cheap and the trains are really comfortable. If you take a train in the peak season, you may want to think about getting tickets in advance. There is assigned seating.

Portugal is still one of those places, ... where you can have a really great dinner out, which might cost $18 to $23 in Manhattan, only costs about $9 to $11 in Portugal.

When I travel, I don't bring anything I can't stand to lose.

If you're not a savvy traveler, I don't recommend it. We hear of stories where things go wrong or people are totally taken advantage of.
