Marcus Vick
FameRank: 6

"Marcus Deon Vick" is a former professional football player who briefly appeared in one game for the Miami Dolphins in 2006. He is the younger brother of New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick, who also began playing high school football in Newport News Public Schools. After accepting a football scholarship to attend Virginia Tech, Marcus played quarterback for the team. However, he was suspended for the entire 2004 season due to many criminal convictions. After a conditional reinstatement, he started every game in the 2005 Virginia Tech Hokies football team/2005 season, but was involved in several highly publicized incidents during the season, including the display of his middle finger to the crowd and stomping on the leg of Louisville's Elvis Dumervil, as well as having additional traffic arrests. In early 2006, he was dismissed from the Virginia Tech football program "due to a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play". Vick then declared himself eligible for the NFL spring draft in 2006, but was not selected. He was later signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent but was released from the team on May 1, 2007.

I've been counting down the days for this, ... Now it's almost here. I'm loving it.

To me, this is probably one of the greatest opportunities that you could ever think about, ... I believe everybody that plays football has a dream of playing on Sunday nights, and what better chance could you have than to open up against the defending ACC champs on Sunday with national TV.

The defense has been giving us great opportunities.

It seems they put all their confidence into their cornerbacks, so we're really going to see how good they are.

I just had to prove that I was responsible enough to be the starting quarterback, ... that I won't be there one day and the next day I won't be around.

It was great. It was everything I expected. We could have done a little more on offense to help ourselves, but N.C. State is a great team and they were bringing the dogs.

I won't have the yellow [no-hit] jersey on now [like in Tech's preseason drills], and I'm finally going to be able to make some plays with my feet, ... I feel pretty stable with our line. But, hey, it's football and things happen. And sometimes people are going to miss blocks or get confused and mess up. But I think we'll be OK as long as we hold 'em up just a few seconds.

Our fans are the 12th man. Wherever we go, they're going to be there.

It was everything I expected, ... I could've done a little better throwing the ball. But they have a great defense.
