I'm so grateful to my mother for helping us out while we went through all of the paperwork. We wouldn't have been able to do it without her.

I talked to Gerry and told him that I wanted to be a mother. We thought that maybe it would be faster if it was done in Peru. But it's a very sad thing when you go to another country. You don't just see older homeless people in the city. You see children, begging. It breaks my heart.

The kids already had an idea of us as parents. They already saw pictures of us and our house, so they already knew a little about us and they were looking forward to having a family.
