Any coach that graduated 11 kids isn't going to tell you they are ready to win the whole thing. If they do, they are crazy. We had a ton of holes to fill. We lost a lot of good players. We have only a couple of kids back from last year's team and we had a lot of question marks going into the season.

He doesn't throw as hard as Matt, but he has very good control. I'm looking for a big year out of him.

I feel bad for our third baseman. He made a great play just to stop the ball. He's young, maybe a little nervous out there in a big spot, and he rushed his throw. That's all that happened. He's been playing great for us, and I'm sure he feels bad right now, but we've got to just move on.

Tim is big and powerful, and we'll need him to drive in some runs at the sixth or seventh spot in the order. Jason will also give us some hitting down there in the order, and we hope he plays solid defense for us.

It's a shame one of them was going to have to get a loss today. It's one of those games you wish was a tie. If there's anybody better out there than those two kids, I would like to see them.

You don't want to just try to have a good team for one year. Hopefully, your lower levels (freshman and junior varsity) are getting better.

We play a really tough schedule, so we'll have to play well day in and day out.

Matt was our No. 2 guy last year, but it was really like having No. 1 and 1A. He really is dominant. He throws in the high 80s and low 90s with control. He's also very tough mentally.

They are our go-to guys.
