"Linford Cicero Christie" Order of the British Empire/OBE is a former Sprint (running)/sprinter from the United Kingdom. He is the only British man to have won gold medals in the 100 metres at all four major competitions open to British athletes: the Olympic Games, the IAAF World Championships in Athletics/World Championships, the European Athletics Championships/European Championships and the Commonwealth Games. He was the first European to break the 10-second barrier in the 100 m and still holds the UK records in athletics/British record in the event. He is a former world indoor record holder over 200 metres, and a former List of European records in athletics/European record holder in the 60 metres, 100 m and 4 x 100 metres relay. With 24 major championship medals including 10 gold medals, he is the most decorated British male athlete.

Christie's track career ended when he received a two-year ban for taking a Use of performance-enhancing drugs in sport/performance-enhancing substance, although he has always denied any wrongdoing. Since his retirement he has focused on coaching, helping Katharine Merry and Darren Campbell to Olympic medals, and his sports management company.

I took that as a racial connotation, to be honest with you.

It disappoints me that he has not got the recognition he deserves as a coach. He should be out there coaching more athletes on a national basis. If I'm the best sprinter in Britain, then he has to be the best coach.

My first love is the sport, and it will always be my priority. I am a coach on the outside of the establishment and that works. I think the athletes respond well to me because I have been successful. I know what it takes to get to the top. I know what psychological games to play and the importance of mental power.

Now that we've got it up and running again, we've got a few ideas about that. I don't think there are really enough meetings in Britain for our athletes to compete properly, and because of this a lot of the talent we have has been stunted.
