Lennart Johansson
FameRank: 4

"Nils Lennart Johansson" was the 5th and, to date, the longest serving president of UEFA, the Union of European Football Associations, from his election at UEFA's Malta Congress in 1990 until 2007. He started as a leader in the sport of bandy in Sweden for his hometown team AIK Bandy/AIK. Johansson then came through the ranks in the Swedish Football Association, and served as the association's president between 1984 and 1991. Johansson is probably most famous for starting the UEFA Champions League and for bringing the 1992 UEFA Euro 1992/UEFA European Football Championship to his native Sweden. Johansson was named Honorary UEFA President by his successor Michel Platini at the Düsseldorf Congress in January 2007.

In October 2007, he was appointed chairman of a committee for bringing bandy into the Olympic sports/Olympic programme.

The Lennart Johanssons Pokal/Lennart Johansson Bowl (Lennart Johanssons pokal), the trophy awarded to the List of Swedish football champions/Swedish football champions each year since 2001, is named after him.

I'm sure it will be considered to host a final.

It is simply an attempt by a group of self-appointed rich clubs to get more money and power out of the game, with no concern for the sports or the fans.

I'll decide tomorrow after the Uefa Congress whether I will speak or not.

I am a vice president of FIFA; I have to be loyal to FIFA. But if there is a change I will gladly accept it.

CRP has a good earning capacity, and it is our ambition to improve it further. Its order backlog for 2006 is at a good level and we believe the market will be strong over the next few years. However, it is important to remember that this business are almost entirely project-related, which entails great variation in order bookings and consequently also in invoicing between different quarters.

The Nordic countries tried with four, but that was too much. Next time they will have three.

I think it's a good idea. They have the same culture, understand each other and travelling is easy between countries. So why not?

I get pretty angry that a man in his position can make statements like this. It's sad. We're dealing with a good soccer player, but a very unskilled leader and careless man.
