I know some people who were not diagnosed until their forties.

Getting people on the right medications and keeping them on it is important. Mentally ill people tend to be non-medication compliant. It is just human nature that when you feel better you go off your medication.

I see legislatures changing and taking more interest in mental health especially community-based care.

They are the real heroes.

With every letter or article I see in the paper more and more people are asking me questions and taking an interest. That gives me a chance to explain what mental illness is and how it affect not only the client but the family.

Bill keeps them out of the hospitals, keeps them from isolating or committing suicide.

A lot of these people's families have disowned them because of the mental illness. The centers are their families.

The biggest problem will be getting them to voluntarily go to their appointment. Because no one wants to have a mental illness.

I think the legislators are taking a lot more interest in the needs for the mentally ill. For many years, they thought it was a black hole that could never be filled.
