There is always a risk in singling out a section of the population for separate treatment - especially the young.

Today, the logic is to say that we must do everything to prevent unemployment, so companies should not be able to lay workers off. But the real question should be how do we make getting a job easier?

We think they are endangering the economy of our country, that they are endangering the image and the reputation of our country and the strength of our social fabric.

Finally we can say that there's a link between the extreme rigidity of the labor code and high unemployment.

We must do everything to quickly end this crisis, which is costing our country dearly. It is time to end this colossal disruption, which harms not only our image but our very social fabric.

It is clear to everybody that France needs reform. Our unemployment is too high, particularly among the young, but employers fear that once people are taken on staff it becomes very difficult and expensive to lay them off in a downturn, so we need labor market flexibility.
