Larry Kaplan

"Larry Kaplan" is an American video game game designer/designer and game programmer/programmer. He studied at the University of California, Berkeley from 1968 through 1974 and graduated with a degree in Computer Science. He initially worked at Atari from August 1976 and was responsible for a lot of their sales. Due to the lack of recognition for his work, he left Atari and became one of the five co-founders of Activision in 1979.

He is best known for his Atari 2600 creation, Kaboom! (video game)/Kaboom!. The game was published by Activision in 1981.

Kaplan left Activision in 1982 for stints at Commodore Amiga/Amiga, Atari Games, Silicon Graphics, and Worlds of Wonder (toy company)/Worlds of Wonder. He also worked as Lead Technical Director on the movie 'Antz'. At last report, Kaplan worked for MicroUnity and lives in Los Altos, California with his wife and three boys.
