I did think of it, I really did. But I just didn't think we had a good 2-point play, and Furman had a lot of momentum going into overtime. I didn't feel really good about what were doing offensively in relation to their defense.

It was a choice by both teams. We both agreed to it.

The thing that stands out most to me about Appalachian State is their skill level. Their quarterback (Williams) does some things that put them in a position to be successful.

We were looking for players that were captains of their high school teams and involved in more than one sport. We sought competitors, and we found them. We searched for people of character, guys that really want to be at The Citadel.

These players have had three coaches in three years. We just need to be consistent in our approach to the game. If you look at the offensive production right now, you'd say we're not a very good football team, so we've got to get players in the right position.

The thing that stands out the most to me is the skill level. The receivers can run, the backs are outstanding. The quarterback Richie (Williams) does so many things.

It's more important to be open than to be complete.

Appalachian really is a good football team. They run so much better than other teams. When you look at the league right now, these guys are playing better than anybody.

A couple of those matches could have gone either way. (Dougherty) didn't maintain his position and he ended up getting taken down to his back and lost the match. (Stephens' match) was close. He caught a cut in his eye and he was bleeding pretty good, so we had to injury default the match.
