We believe in a philosophy of giving students their own clients, so they can work with them from start to finish. We're there to talk them through cases and help them prepare, but the cases are really theirs.

[The student advocates] do an initial interview with the client and find out whether the restraining order is the client's best option. Sometimes a restraining order could be more dangerous than not getting one, so we teach students how to assess how dangerous a perpetrator is.
