If our elected officials in Texas want to impose harsh penalties for the use of marijuana, that is their decision, but the university does not have to pile on.

I think overall society should change and society should reanalyze their position on marijuana. If nothing else, this will spark conversations that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol. The main goal is to bring more attention to this issue.

By having stricter penalties, I think that many of us feel UT is just promoting alcohol use due to the fact that they are harsher punishments for marijuana.
