"Jon Bruning" is an American politician who served as the 31st State Attorney General/Attorney General of the state of Nebraska from 2003 to 2015. A Republican Party (United States)/Republican, he was a member of the Nebraska State Legislature from 1996 until his resignation in 2002 following his election to the position of Attorney General.

Guilt and innocence were not really at issue here. It's clear that he violated the statute.

You have to have consequences for your actions. I believe this is a very serious crime.

But this is not a job we do to win popularity points, ... I was elected to enforce the law. And anytime a grown man has sex with a child, it's not a close call for me.

In my three years on this board, we have not commuted a single one, ... And as I looked at this, I thought, this might be the single one.
