"John Auld" was a Scottish people/Scottish Football (soccer)/footballer who played for Sunderland A.F.C./Sunderland and Scotland national football team/Scotland as a Defender (association football)#Centre back/central defender. Auld played for Sunderland during 1890 to 1895 where he won two League Championships, in; 1892 and 1893, and the 1894/95 World Championship. After making 100 league appearances and scoring 5 goals, Auld left Sunderland for their arch rivals, Newcastle United F.C./Newcastle United. He later became a director of Newcastle United.

Auld gained his first cap for Scotland national football team/Scotland on 19 March 1887 against England national football team/England where they won 3–2. He went on to make three appearances for his country, scoring no goals.
