"Joseph William "Joe" Calzaghe", Order of the British Empire/CBE is a retired Welsh people/Welsh professional Boxing/boxer. He is a former World Boxing Organization/WBO, International Boxing Federation/IBF, World Boxing Council/WBC, World Boxing Association/WBA & The Ring (magazine)/The Ring Super Middleweight Champion and The Ring (magazine)/The Ring Light Heavyweight Champion.

Calzaghe is the longest-reigning Super Middleweight world champion in history, having held the WBO Super Middleweight title for over ten years and made 21 successful defenses. He relinquished the title to move up to light heavyweight. As his super middleweight and light heavyweight reigns overlapped, he retired with the longest continual time as world champion of any active fighter. He is part of the Team Calzaghe based at the Newbridge boxing club.

Between 2006 to 2008, he was rated by The Ring magazine as a top ten pound for pound boxer. In January 2009, the magazine ranked him #3 in the world.

He retired in February 2009 with an undefeated record and as a reigning World Champion.

Calzaghe is sometimes referred to as the "Pride of Wales" or the "Italian Dragon" in reference to his mixed heritage (the dragon being both Welsh Dragon/a Welsh emblem and a Sardinian myth).

Alright, he's chucking his toys out the basket and Gary Shaw has a big mouth and shouts a lot.

Lots of things can also happen between now and then (November 5th), not least among them injuries. I have had problems with my hand and back on and off over the years, which is hardly surprising when you have been fighting since the age of nine like I have. My left hand swells up after almost every fight.

I've always been quite into clothes.

This is the first time a champion has put his title on the line, but I've got injured.

I love to knock guys out, that's my game, but today I had to adjust and box with my jab. I would have knocked him out by the fifth or sixth round. But I had to jab my way to victory.

I'm devastated with the injury but I've proved my heart and skill to everyone by fighting one handed for eight rounds.

He [Lacy] wants it and I want it and the prospect really excites me, but I haven't even talked money yet so nothing is cut and dried.

But I will fight Jeff Lacy, regardless of money, regardless of anything else, it's a fight I definitely want.
