Shelby did a good job of defending (Daniel) McPherson, who is one of the best players in our region. It seemed like the buckets had lids on them in the fourth quarter, because we had some good looks that simply bounced out.

The kids worked hard and never quit, but we couldn't get the shots to fall ? particularly our free throws. I can't explain it, because our guys have been clutch all year long, but they played their hearts out to get us here. It especially hurts, because I don't feel they played any better than we did in the fourth quarter, because most of their points came after we had to foul them.

They sent everybody at Broderick tonight, and he showed how unselfish he is and still managed to score. We avoided foul trouble for the most part, and that was one of the keys for us.

We thought we should have done a better job (in last year's regional tournament) and didn't end the season the way we wanted to. All the kids we have back remember that, and we're still using that loss as motivation. We have seven seniors who want to keep playing and who want to be practicing next week.

That was unusual for us ? it's not typical, and I think the boys understand and that it won't happen again. Miguel got a good roll on his shot, and it's a plus for us when he scores like he did tonight.
