"Jim Baron" is an American college basketball coach for the Canisius College Canisius Golden Griffins men's basketball/Golden Griffins men's team. He previously held the same position at Saint Francis University, St. Bonaventure University and the University of Rhode Island.

Baron had a 20-season stint as coach in the Atlantic 10 Conference, between nine seasons at St. Bonaventure and eleven seasons at Rhode Island. In April 2010, he agreed with Rhode Island to a contract extension through the 2013–14 season. However, after a 7–24 season and a second-to-last place conference finish in 2011–12, the university terminated his contract.

We're continuing to build. It continues to take time. It's a process. We won 20 games my second year, 20 my third year. Then last year, our two best players were out with season-ending injuries. We have to refuel the fire to build the new chemistry.

You've got be ready to play that style for 40 minutes. It wears you down. They got so many weapons they force you to turn the ball over and get you out of your game. I think it's a very unique style.

(Last year) definitely helps. Will Daniels had to step up; we had a number of guys that had to step up. That certainly helps you, because they went through a baptism by fire and got some quality minutes. Now, you have to continue to build continuity and continue to build chemistry with each and every game.

We dug ourselves a little bit of a hole and we tried to fight back. We had too many turnovers. You can't do that against good basketball teams.

On any given night, I think [the Colonials] are as good as anybody just because of their athletic ability. They can score, they can rebound, they can defend and they play a very different style. You've got to be ready to play that style for 40 minutes. They force you to turn the ball over and get you out of your game.

Parfait played solid, he played under control and very poised.

Coming off last year, yeah, it's a little bit surprising.

Parfait sprained his ankle, and he was out. We needed another ball handler, another guy to help in the backcourt. I thought he did a very fine job. We really missed Parfait from a defensive standpoint, because he's so aggressive. Down the stretch, it's important we do a better job of that.
