"Jim Baron" is an American college basketball coach for the Canisius College Canisius Golden Griffins men's basketball/Golden Griffins men's team. He previously held the same position at Saint Francis University, St. Bonaventure University and the University of Rhode Island.

Baron had a 20-season stint as coach in the Atlantic 10 Conference, between nine seasons at St. Bonaventure and eleven seasons at Rhode Island. In April 2010, he agreed with Rhode Island to a contract extension through the 2013–14 season. However, after a 7–24 season and a second-to-last place conference finish in 2011–12, the university terminated his contract.

(Last year) definitely helps. Will Daniels had to step up; we had a number of guys that had to step up. That certainly helps you, because they went through a baptism by fire and got some quality minutes. Parfait sprained his ankle, and he was out. We needed another ball handler, another guy to help in the backcourt. I thought he did a very fine job. We really missed Parfait from a defensive standpoint, because he's so aggressive. Down the stretch, it's important we do a better job of that.
