It just takes time. It's an extremely difficult sport.

It's difficult because Americans do things far differently. The athletes have rights. They qualify via criteria. It's not the way that some of these other nations do things, where they just take people and say, 'You're going to do this.' It's a challenge for us to keep up with that.

I'm optimistic. It's easy to be optimistic when you're a year out, 18 months out. But with the group we've got here, they're still skiing great right up to the Olympics, so I'm still feeling good about it.

He's become a lot better skier over the last four years.

For some of these athletes who haven't been in a World Cup, and won't be in one this winter, this is their chance to maybe go from not being in the World Cup to going to the Olympics.

What can you say? She gave it her best. She's disappointed, definitely. She likes to be in there. We had a great shot at winning this thing, so it's tough.
