The subjects in this case targeted (for fund-raising) travelers, primarily of Asian descent, as they arrived at Los Angeles International Airport. They dressed in business attire and used binders containing photographs of starving children and other documents.

They also aggressively solicited members of the Iranian community.

The MEK is also tied to the occupation of the Iranian mission to the United Nations in New York in 1992. They have also claimed a number of terrorist acts throughout the world and have asked for credit for those acts.
