We're not looking at individuals. We're looking to see if there's a breakdown in the system. This is a situation that is very volatile.

It's a perfect storm. It involves race, privilege ... It involves arrogance, sex, athletes, the South.

We're all pretty good friends. We've all played other sports together and we've been together for two or three years now, so we're a pretty good chemistry team.

I hope the community will read the reports and make its own judgment about whether the record warrants the suspension or termination of the program. We didn't think so. We feel the decision ought to be made on the basis of the facts: We did not find racist behavior. We did not find sexual assault. We didn't find harassment.

There has to be a mechanism so coaches are aware of the disciplinary problems their players are having. They should have dealt more severely with the problem.

That's the environment that they were living in that night. The question is, was there a pattern?

The deplorable disciplinary record of the lacrosse team reflects the extent to which they let down those who trusted them, including their coach, their families and the university.

I believe that there are a few people involved in making these decisions. We need to increase participation in order to have credibility.
