"Jake Edward Long" is an American football offensive tackle for the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He starred at Lapeer East High School in high school football/football, basketball and baseball. Long played college football for the University of Michigan and was a two-time consensus All-American. The Miami Dolphins drafted him with the List of first overall National Football League draft picks/first overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and he earned four Pro Bowl invitations for the Dolphins.

In high school, Long was the first player in his high school's history to earn all-state "Dream Team" (all-class state team) honors in football from the Detroit News. He was a two-time first-team All-Metro League player in both basketball and football, where he was honored both on offense and defense. In baseball, he was a two-time second-team All-Metro League selection. In both basketball and football, he led his team to regular and post season success that had not been seen in many years.

Last year ? at the beginning of the year, he was a little hesitant. But last year, he became a lot more vocal. And definitely this year, he became the leader of the huddle.

I really couldn't believe it. When they told me I had to have surgery, I couldn't believe it. I was really upset. I was having a great camp, and I was really excited to get the season going. I had a couple hard days, but after that, I realized I'd have a chance to come back and help the team. I threw everything aside and dedicated myself to getting back.

If they moved me over there, that would be great. I'll play wherever. It's definitely the prestige position on the offense, and if they moved me over there, it would be an honor, and I'd play hard and live up to the responsibility.

He's a really quick guy, he's quick off the ball and he has very quick moves. With that, he's powerful, he's really strong and he can bull right through you. All those qualities make him a great pass rusher.
