Jacques Villeneuve
FameRank: 4

"Jacques Joseph Charles Villeneuve", , is a Canadian automobile racing driver and amateur musician. He is the son of Formula One driver Gilles Villeneuve, and is the namesake of Jacques Villeneuve (elder)/his uncle, who was also a racer. Villeneuve won the 1995 CART World Series season/1995 Champ Car/CART Championship, the 1995 Indianapolis 500/1995 Indianapolis 500 and the 1997 Formula One season/1997 Formula One World Championship, making him only the third driver after Mario Andretti and Emerson Fittipaldi to achieve such a feat. To date, no other Canadian has won the Indianapolis 500 or the F1 Drivers' title.

Following two successful years in Champ Car/CART, Villeneuve moved into Formula One with the front running WilliamsF1/Williams team, alongside Damon Hill. In his 1996 Formula One season/debut season, Villeneuve challenged Hill for the title, winning four races and taking the fight to the final round in 1996 Japanese Grand Prix/Japan, where the Canadian retired and Hill won the title. Villeneuve, however, did win the following year's title, this time challenging Michael Schumacher and once again taking it to the final round in 1997 European Grand Prix/Jerez, where Schumacher retired after Michael Schumacher#Championship-deciding collisions/the two collided.

My goal is not to be a race-car driver. The reason I'm racing is because I enjoy being in the car and being on the edge.

My lady is fast but moody.

If Michael really felt that Rubens deserved the win, all he had to do was slow down and cross the line in second place, ... Ferrari wouldn't have done anything against him.

If I knew I couldn't win races, I would have stayed in the States.

That was a pretty bad lap, ... The car was just sliding around all over the place.

At the first corner everybody was going four abreast so I backed off a little.

Spa is a great track! I've got memories of some adventures there, though it's never been lucky for me. It's definitely a track where you can feel stronger than the rest if you go through the corners flat. It's one of the last high-speed circuits that we have and it's a very long lap.

I had to back off on one lap near the end because of yellow flags, but that happened while we were on a long run so it wasn't really a problem and I did my best lap on the next one, which was my last. The grip was getting better all day, having been very low to begin with this morning. We still have some set-up work to do, but it was okay.

He doesn't seem to have the personality for a No. 2: He is a fighter. He's not one who will just accept being behind. He is still progressing, and Ferrari can only be good for him.
