I've known him since he was about 5 years old. I watched him grow up. In his school, in his community, he was always willing to help and always led by example. He brought out the best in other people in athletics and I think he set the example in the classroom by performing and doing the things he was asked of him.

That was a nervous moment for everybody, certainly. That's just the sort of individual he was. He could suck it up when he had to and get things done.
