FameRank: 6

"Howard Michael" ""Howie"" "Mandel" is a Canadian comedian, actor, television host, and voice actor. He is well known as host of the NBC game show Deal or No Deal (U.S. game show)/Deal or No Deal, as well as the show's Deal or No Deal (U.S. syndicated game show)/daytime and Deal or No Deal Canada/Canadian-English counterparts. Before his career as a game show host, Mandel was best known for his role as rowdy ER intern Dr. Wayne Fiscus on the NBC medical drama St. Elsewhere. He is also well known for being the creator and star of the children's cartoon Bobby's World. On June 6, 2009, he hosted the 2009 Game Show Awards on Game Show Network/GSN. Mandel became a judge on NBC's America's Got Talent, replacing David Hasselhoff, in the fifth season of the reality talent contest. Mandel has mysophobia (an irrational fear of germs) to the point that he does not shake hands with anyone, including contestants on Deal or No Deal, unless he is wearing latex gloves.

People who annoy people are the luckiest people in the world.

I'm fascinated by mankind, ... I grew up watching 'Candid Camera' and thought it was funnier than any standup, any joke, anything that could possibly be written because you're dealing with humanity. And people can relate to that. It touches everybody who sees it. It hits a nerve.

[Then amid the crowd's boos — they want Howie, not the] Oh Happy Day ... I think my epitaph is going to go, 'Thank God, he's gone.'

Terry was so angry; she kept saying we have to meet with these people at parent-teacher conferences, ... But in the midst of this anger, I realized there's something funny about the way these pieces affect my life, and I realized there was a show in this, a hybrid where you could see the hidden cameras juxtaposed with this normal domestic life that I lead.

We get up early Sunday morning, ... and we have cereal and orange juice and we make crank calls.

She was so helpful and so sweet and so giving, ... I call it the food-poisoning effect. Everybody knows where they got food poisoning. We take that first bite and there's kind of an awful taste or a bad smell. You knew it was a little off, but you just kept going.

I was never brave before. I always tried to make it work, ... Now I have nothing to lose except some cash, and it's just not that important to me. I've never been allowed up until now to remain who I am, or true to what my life is like.

I've been chased, ... I've been pushed. I've been screamed at. I've been verbally abused. I've been afraid for my safety. But I did it all in the name of entertainment.
