They took the animals (we had found) and moved them to a shelter two hours north of where we were.

We found one old black dog on a couch that was near starvation. Another dog died in the bedroom. We were all bawling and crying.

We probably searched about 100 apartments and houses.

We found a wonderful group of private citizens at a makeshift shelter.

David did a lot of networking. He gave his card to everyone we came across, (even) insurance agents and utility workers. We trapped cats and whenever we heard a barking dog, we went for it.

I cannot tell you how stressed you get in that type of situation. It was basically like a war zone.

David (Braun) and I stayed for five days. Everyone else came back home.
