It's very apparent that anybody can win. The rest of the country has shown that, on any given day, you can be beat if you're not ready.

I haven't struggled this year, but I haven't done the right things. It was more of an approach (Sunday) to each at-bat that I wasn't going to waste any opportunities.

I think the biggest thing right now is we want to come out, and play well. But there's no reason for us to panic if something out of the ordinary happens this weekend. Hey, it's not likely we're going to go 56-0, so at some point we're going to lose a game. We've just got to put it behind us and be ready to play every day.

We use it as motivation. But we know we haven't done anything yet.

You could see the younger guys improving and all of us getting better.

He throws a very heavy ball and it's hard to pick up. He has a lot of velocity and his split-finger is fantastic. It's great to know ... that when we have a lead in the eighth or ninth inning, we're going to get that win.

He had a hard slider and was working in and out with his fastball. Give him credit: He hit his spots.

We know this is the time we have to start getting hot.

You just have to give O'Connor credit for what he's done with the program -- where it was a couple years ago and where it is now.
