The medical experts say you need to wait between 24 and 48 hours to accurately assess the situation so we'll know more in a day or so. If there is the prospect of him recovering reasonably quickly then he will stay with the squad but if it looks like taking much longer then we would consider sending him back home with a view to being fit for the one-day series.

Knowing Johan would, in all likelihood, be part of our one-day squad we thought maybe it was a good idea for a young man like him to come to Australia early, whether he plays or not doesn't matter.

We will only play him once he has fully recovered from his injury.

From a selection perspective we want him to have medical attention and be one hundred percent fit for the home series against Australia.

Jacques knew before the tour that he would be covering for all of the top six positions. I told him it was a great compliment to his abilities that he can bat anywhere and he is quite prepared to bat where he is needed.

Johan showed promise in India and we are bold enough to give him another opportunity. I am also optimistic that Nicky has the experience and desire to bounce back into the one-day squad.

He will arrive in the next day or two. We'll look at our options for the next test.

Johan showed promise in India and we are bold enough to give him another opportunity.

I cannot over-emphasize the importance of not taking risks with injured players.
