"Gerald June Perry" is a former first baseman in Major League Baseball who played from 1983 to 1995 for the Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals.

In 1988, Perry had his best season, batting an even .300. He was one of only five National League batters that hit .300 or better that season that had the required number of plate appearances to qualify for the batting title. Perry was a contender for the title virtually the entire season, but ended up fifth. Tony Gwynn won the title that season by batting only .313. For his efforts, Perry was named to the 1988 NL All-Star team.

In 1993 he tied a St. Louis Cardinals single-season club record with 24 pinch hitter/pinch hits, and in 1995 he became the Cardinals all-time pinch-hit leader with 70th Cardinal pinch hit.

Perry was hitting coach for the Seattle Mariners from 2000–2002, the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2003–2005, the Oakland Athletics in 2006, and the Chicago Cubs from 2007 until he was fired on June 13, 2009. The Cubs replaced him with Von Joshua. In 2011, the Athletics re-hired him as batting coach and let go after the season ended.

He was the hitting coach for the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox in 2012. Perry joins the Erie SeaWolves for the 2013 season as their hitting coach.

He wasn't using the leg kick all the time and I pointed out that if he wanted to use it during the regular season he better start here. You want to get your timing down in camp.

I thought he looked great. Those balls would have been out if it hadn't been for the wind. He's swinging the bat well.

I thought he looked great. He's swinging the bat well, and his timing looks like it's there. The key is that he got the barrel of the bat on the ball and he was laying off tough pitches. He's been able to get 30 at-bats relatively quickly.

He'll be ready for Opening Day. I have no doubt about that. He's been going at it pretty hard. His timing looks like it's there. The key is, he's getting the barrel of the bat on the ball and laying off tough pitches.

The group of people here in Odessa are super as far as track. I enjoy that, being with them and watching the kids compete.

Frank laid off some tough pitches and the bat was coming through the zone well. I was very pleased with what he did.

I was really pleased. I was very pleased to be honest. He could've done a lot more, but it was the first day.

We're not going to change his mechanics. He's a hitter. He'll hit.
