"Gerald Green, Jr." is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 18th pick of the first round in the 2005 NBA Draft. Known for his dunking skill, he has performed well in many slam dunk competitions, having won the 2005 McDonald's All-American Slam Dunk Contest and the 2007 NBA All-Star Game#Slam Dunk Contest/2007 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, while finishing as the runner-up in the 2008 NBA All-Star Game#Sprite Slam Dunk Contest/2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He is the second cousin of Danny Green (basketball)/Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs/Spurs.

When Green was in the 6th grade, he was involved in a gruesome accident that left a significant portion of his right ring finger cut off. He was wearing a ring on his right ring finger when he attempted a Slam dunk/dunk on a makeshift basketball hoop. Unfortunately, the ring caught onto a nail on the goal and his finger was ripped, with amputation being the only option.

I'll feel a little different the next time out. I don't know if I'll play, but I've just got to always be ready.

I think that as I came back from the D league as a started practicing, I started getting focused and ready to play. I've been going out there working hard, playing hard, being more aggressive and I think that has been the change.

Anybody in my position would want to stay up here. Right now I'm just working hard every day and trying to stay here. I'm picking up a lot of stuff that way.

The guys told me to stay aggressive and that's what I tried to do. I started to get focused and get ready to play. I've been going out there, playing hard and being more aggressive. That's been the biggest change.

I just played a game. I didn't know what was planned because I didn't know I was going down there until the day before I was leaving.
