I think they are one of the neatest animals in the woods. They look like a ghost when they run and there's no other animal like it in the state. To me, they symbolize wilderness.

The snow-less winters makes them more vulnerable to predators. The lower elevations of their range where there is less snowfall are the areas where the numbers really dropped.
