I was real proud of the job Shad did.

I like the way things are going for us right now.

I think we're in good shape for the rest of this series, pitching-wise. I'm hoping I won't even have to use the bullpen tomorrow night (tonight) with (Grant) Dorn and Can (Oil Can Boyd) pitching for us.

Whenever I have gone to manage in a town, I try to find out as much about that town and the area around it as I can.

I know I'll never win championships here like Coach Colombo did for all those years, but he told me a lot of things about what Brockton is about.

I've seen a lot of new buildings go up, the new library, new developments and new businesses which will help the city over the long haul. There have been some big improvements in this city in the time I've been here, and I think those are things the city should be especially proud of.

We came in as the new kid on the block in the City of Champions, and the people here embraced us from the start.

I'm a neighborhood-bar kind of guy, anyway. I'd just as soon have a hamburger and fries as have a steak or a fancy meal. I like to be around people I consider my friends, and I've made a lot of friends in my four years here.

This is a blue-collar city with people who work hard for their money and are really down to earth.
