We try to use it as a last resort. We try other routes if we can: the school psychologist, peer mediation, social worker, student assistance counselors and guidance counselors. If that doesn't work, we hope that by sending the child home, the parents are getting involved.

I think when it's a total team effort with parental support, it does work. It seems to have an effect on the kids. A lot of kids get suspended once, and that's the end of it.

Rain not only produces all this water, it causes people to close their doors and lock their windows. That basically locks in the humidity.
