This will be a much more powerful set of eyes for controllers to see things that now can't be seen and to identify specifically what they are.

It's not uncommon for aircraft to have problems with their landing gear. This isn't unique to this particular aircraft.
Shortly after the plane took off, the pilot discovered that he may have a landing gear problem.
Our understanding was that this was an emergency landing due to engine trouble.
Aircraft do have landing gear problems. What is extremely rare is when you have television cameras aimed at the plane ... there were a lot of people in our office that were really stunned about how perfect that landing looked.
When you live in the second largest city in the country, there is going to be a lot of aircraft and people have to understand that. Cities are noisy places, whether it's noise coming from the ground or in the air. I have helicopters flying over my home but that is the price I pay for living in the Hollywood Hills. That is the price I pay for living in Los Angeles.
They can't be that heavy.
They were more than 100 feet apart, we don't know how much more. The Air Canada jet had already finished crossing the runway when the America West jet flew over the runway at about 100 feet.
