J.C. Flowers is very broadly involved with financial service companies of various types and is an entity with some knowledge of the market.

The $1 trillion mark has always been something to achieve, and others have come close. But it must be pretty heady to be the first $1 trillion asset manager. Not even the behemoths like Vanguard can say that.

J.C. Flowers has a reputation in this market for making these types of investments. It's someone known for restructurings and re-workings.

If they find more, it could be there demise.

With some of these tools, by the time I figured out what color blob I was looking at, it was just easier to look at a table -- I could get the information I needed faster that way. It gives you a lot of information, but it's like topography as opposed to a street map. In some cases the technology didn't help and didn't have the right type of navigation.

It's phenomenal that this company has been able to get on the S&P 500 less than two years after it went public. And GE spun it off because it didn't feel it had a good enough handle on its earnings.
