Our aim is to overcome the cultural and language differences that create difficulties in critical situations, whether it's helping people in a shelter during a hurricane, offering AIDS/HIV education, or teaching children to stay safe in the water.

Once again our community is showing us the true meaning of caring and taking care of a neighbor, a friend, be they on the same street or be they somewhere else in our country.

There's an additional 50 families coming in to Palm Beach County every day from the storm-ravaged areas, and we're caring for them. We may need to open up three or four more shelters in the area.

There were some nice financial opportunities for us moving to the wedge. But it's a very fluid process. I don't view it as a closed episode.

That's the worst thing that can happen.

It seems like once or twice a day, school kids are coming into our office bringing in checks. Schools have really come forward.

We are opening more and more shelters every day, where in the past shelters were closed day by day.
