I'm looking forward to the opportunity to wear the uniform of the United States, and to the challenge of trying to bring the baseball World Cup back to America for the first time since 1974.

I was at that World Cup, coaching the Netherlands, and I heard somebody yelling, 'Skip, Skip, Skip!' at me in a thick accent. It was this big Russian kid named Igor who was in the Dodgers camp for a while. He didn't make it, but he could pound the ball pretty good.

What (Cox) has been able to do, infuse young talent throughout the years, young pitchers and win is one of the toughest jobs to do. Nobody has done it better.

Are you sure you want to do this job?

We've been dying to get to Cuba the whole tournament ... They have a very strong team -- this is their Olympic gold team.

I really enjoy having these guys - Double-A, Triple-A - in this Olympic team. It's been a joy getting them together.

I don't know anything about it. Nobody's talked to me.

I'm sure that I'll have the team, and we'll be training in Florida before we go over.

Once you start winning, ... you don't want to stop. You don't want to lose.
