I told (Val) to come up here with a first base glove because what I'd like to do is get him playing once a week at first base and also some right and left field. I think it'll help his situation for the future to go to the big leagues as a possible first baseman. I'll try and help him out a little bit by moving him around.

Overall, getting out of the gate with good starting pitching like we've gotten ... we've seen some really good performances out of some people.

I really didn't expect a whole lot of offense at 9:30 in the morning from either side.

He did well. The game could have got out of hand. When he struck out Bannon and Jorgensen, that proved to be the difference in the game.

We're not playing well and it's a frustrating situation to be in. The timely hitting hasn't been there.

I was reading the throw. He would have been out.

All in all, I'm proud of the way the guys played. The guys played hard all the time, and I think they appreciated the opportunity that they had.

The guys behind Kurt made some very good plays. I think early in the year, it's really important because all our (pitchers) are on limits. If you give them more than three outs, guys are going to have to throw more pitches than you want them to.

The game is such once you stop (running), you can't start again. You can't fault him for being aggressive.
