Right now it's very clay-like soil that holds a lot of water and gets real spongy. The clay soil holds the water so the fields stay wet. We can't mow it and then it's unsafe to play on. It's a vicious cycle.

Certainly athletics are important. It's a good idea, but does it fit the overall mission of the college? That's for the board of trustees to decide. There will be no rush to judgment on what to do with the corner because it is such an important piece of land.
