"Bruce Headley" (born 17 February 1934) is a Thoroughbred horse trainer and owner.

Involved with horse racing since his teens, Headley worked as an exercise rider from 1949 until taking out his trainers license in 1959. Based in California, he first gained national attention with Bertrando who won the 1991 Norfolk Stakes (United States)/Norfolk Stakes by a record nine lengths and went on to a second-place finish behind a brilliant performance by European star, Arazi (horse)/Arazi. Headley's greatest success to date came with the Eclipse Award/Champion Sprint (race)/sprint horse Kona Gold, a winner of multiple stakes races including the 2000 Breeders' Cup Sprint. In addition to being the horse's trainer, Headley is also a one-third partner. He co-owned Kona Gold with Irwin Molasky.

That was really impressive. That's what he likes to do is stalk. Alex knows him well.

We had him ready, but I was scared of (Bobby) Frankel's horse (Major Success) to be truthful with you. But (Surf Cat) ran really big. We'll see how he pulls up and see what's next. Santa Anita is my favorite place.

The way Alex was sitting, it looked pretty good.

We're just using this as a chance to get him back on the beam.

He's very versatile. He can sprint and go a mile and a quarter.

A run will help him, but he went a good 1:24. He's a versatile horse. We're starting off at seven-eighths, and that's a tough sprint.

We freshened her up. She's worked well. She's an old pro.

Seven furlongs is, maybe, the toughest distance because you have to run hard every step of the way. I like to try and work a horse that far before running him.

He jumped on his quarter. It took five weeks to close the wound. I've been pointing him for this race.
