What Nokia did in the end was to bypass RIM and go straight to NTP. It's really unfortunate for RIM to still be dealing with the same issues, which haven't been resolved. It's definitely adversely impacting their business model.

They need to get over these hurdles with NTP to compete in the marketplace. RIM is now dealing with these legal issues instead of focusing their own resources to compete against rivals like Microsoft.

RIM is definitely trying to push aggressively with their technology, but legal issues are holding them back from going full throttle and coming out with new devices and technologies.
