Children are creatures of habit and very much depend on a routine to feel secure and function well. Kids fall apart when you change their sleep schedule. They need at least 12 hours.

Hold them, soothe them and tell them you are sorry that you lost track of them. But the wise parent never keeps his or her eyes off the child outside of the home.

Unfortunately, it's sometimes difficult to know which people are the bad ones. So, in general, it's a fine idea to teach children not to approach strangers.
