In pure technique terms, Britain is now one the best nations. It's been a rough ride but things taste better through adversity. It's a nice feeling for me, great for the coaches and the kids who have done the job. It certainly answers the critics - and it's only going to get better.

The good part for me is that the bounce back off it has been exceptional. The e-mails, the letters of support have been sensational.

We have to convert to the world stage, we can't just walk away from the Commonwealth Games and be satisfied with our results.

We have got a group of swimmers who are not just satisfied with making the team any more. They expect to win medals.

I've had to tone that down significantly, way, way below that.

Many times I felt like this is not worth it, that I am trying to do an impossible job.

I can't remember saying exactly those things and what was quoted as being said was not the memory of several others who were in the room.

This bullying rubbish is absolute garbage, everyone who knows me and works with me said take no notice of it.

It's getting bigger but I think it will take another couple of years to really bear fruit.
