"William Richard Shorten" is an Australian politician who has been Australian Labor Party/Leader of the Labor Party and List of Australian Leaders of the Opposition/Leader of the Opposition since October 2013. He has represented Division of Maribyrnong/Maribyrnong in the Australian House of Representatives since Australian federal election, 2007/2007, and served in a number of ministerial positions in the Second Rudd Government/Rudd and Gillard Governments, including Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth/Minister for Education and Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations (Australia)/Minister for Workplace Relations. Prior to entering Parliament of Australia/Parliament, he was the National Secretary of the Australian Workers' Union from 2001 to 2007.
