What irritates me about it is I know they haven't gotten gas in days. Their gas came in four or five days ago. The previous owner wouldn't change his prices, either up or down, until he got another load of gas. It's just a matter of profiteering, pure and simple.

We have that problem on this reservation as well. Hopefully, the money we make out of this can go to prevention to help our children to understand the effects of alcohol and drugs, and to do a lot more research, gathering a lot more data.

(The experience is) different for both of us. It wasn't really what I was looking for, it just kind of happened.

It's a new environment and a new point in both of our careers, where we can see if we can transport some of the skills (we learned in Humboldt County).

This city runs on tourists, and this marathon could set a tone. People ask me if it's safe down here for running -- of course, it's safe. I don't need a dome to run this race. I just need some roads.

They're going to see some sights. Everything between Mile 3 and through 12 1/2 was under between four feet and 10 feet of water. They'll see X's on houses marked for demolition, and a zero, one or two for houses in which they found dead bodies. This will be a virtual running tour of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

I think we're getting mixed messages. Good news one day, mediocre news the next, and bad news after that.

This sounds good now. But we're worried about that guy in traffic that's tailgating. What if I start tailgating him and he feels threatened? He could get angry and pull out a gun and shoot me.

It is all about having fun.
