Lahr is principally known for his role as Kansas farmworker Zeke and the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz (1939 film)/The Wizard of Oz (1939). He was very well known for his explosive humor, and his work in American burlesque/burlesque, vaudeville, and on Broadway theatre/Broadway.
