"Bella Savitsky Abzug", nicknamed ""Battling Bella"", was an United States/American lawyer, United States House of Representatives/U.S. Representative, social activist and a leader of the Feminist Movement in the United States (1963–1982)/Women's Movement. In 1971, Abzug joined other leading feminists such as Gloria Steinem and Betty Friedan to found the National Women's Political Caucus. She declared, "This woman's place is in the House—the United States House of Representatives/House of Representatives," in her successful 1970 campaign.
