The impact on research could be very serious. The bottom line is that research that benefits both our economy and our national security just won't happen.

The goal is to substantially expand federal efforts to save America's natural treasures and provide significant new resources to states and communities, to protect and restore farmland, city parks and open spaces.

There have been a couple of areas that improvements were needed and in fact that's the work that's been going on that has led to the guidelines that are being issued today. I said it worked. I didn't say it was working perfectly.

The administration does not believe the standards for intervening under Taft-Hartley have been met at this time.

As near as we can tell, it's not authorized. But we are taking this in a lighthearted manner. It is milk, after all.

The president has already made it clear that he believes it's very important that we make child care safe, more available and more affordable.

I'm not going to suggest one way or another what might happen after that.

His mood is great. We do know that he agrees with us and probably all Americans that if this means that we are coming to the end of this four-year, over $40 million investigation, then that would be a good thing.

The point of him (Clinton) going is to help give momentum to an agenda that will accomplish a great deal for the American people this year, if the Congress moves on it.
