His teammates on the Chicago Bears under George Halas included his friend Stan Jones (American football)/Stan Jones and 1961 rookie Mike Ditka, both NFL Hall of Fame inductees. Art's 7 yard career average rushing gain per attempt statistic is only one tenth of a yard short of the all-time List of National Football League records (individual)/NFL individual record.
